'Chinese cyberspies' target energy giants

Five global energy firms have been attacked in what McAfee have described as "coordinated covert and targeted cyberattacks", evidence suggests a further seven firms were hit by a series of attacks that used a combination of social engineering, spear-phishing, Windows exploits, Active Directory compromises and the use of Trojans.

The attacks went on for at least two years and possibly as long as four years, with each of the firms only being made aware of the attacks after being notified by the FBI
